Just over a year ago, Chris McGowan was coming out of the tail end of her cancer journey.
She was weak, didn’t have a lot of energy and wasn’t where she wanted to be…
…something a lot of us can relate to whether we’ve had an illness, injury, or life trauma that has gotten us off track.
And when we end up in these situations it’s difficult to get back on track.
We can feel alone and unmotivated.
And even frustrated at how far off track we’ve gotten.
In a way, it’s easy to feel unlike our real self.
So when Chris hit this point on her own journey she knew she had to try something different.
She wanted to be able to see her kids graduate and get married as well as have energy for the grandkids (when that time comes).
And to do this she knew she had to take control of her health.
She had heard of this “new women’s program”, but was hesitant to give it a try.
She had tried other programs in the past but never got out of them what she needed to.
She didn’t want to go into another situation where no one would help modify the exercises or help her with her form, or most of all feel like they didn’t understand where she is on her journey.
So, instead of taking the plunge herself, she encouraged a friend to try out this program first before deciding to try it herself.
Her friend had good things to say, so she decided to take the risk and join too.
And it’s one of the best choices she made.
Since joining six months ago, Chris has lost 22 pounds, 14 inches, and went from a size 14 to a size 8!
When I asked Chris what made the biggest difference in her success, her response was,
“You don’t know how much support means to you until you need it.”
There were a lot of things she couldn’t do and she needed the support.
Not just from a coach that would guide her along the way…
…but from other women who were right there to motivate her and encourage her on her journey.
You may have heard the phrase, “You are the sum of the five people you hang out with the most”.
And this couldn’t be more true in fitness.
Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive women who are also trying to transform their own life creates a new level of motivation and follow-thru.
One that’s nearly impossible to get on ones own.
And it’s not just about the weight loss. Chris exclaims,
“I’m so much stronger and more muscular than I was!”
Chris is doing exercises that 6 months ago she didn’t even think she could do!
