I woke up at 4:30 this morning not feeling well (stupid cramps!)
Since I couldn’t sleep I came downstairs to watch a Hallmark lovey dovey movie – yeah they are cheesy but some of my favorites.
What can I say?
I just love mush 😍
I ate a rather carby breakfast – banana and LaraBar because the eggs I made yesterday sounded ick and not so great for my tummy.
And I had to skip my workout.
Taking some Tylenol and curling up in a ball on the couch was all I could think of until about 30 minutes ago.
And you know what?
Days like this just happen.
Whether you’re not feeling well, something crazy comes up in your schedule, or you just have a moment of weakness and decide to eat a whole pint of Ben and Jerry’s (been there done that…) you’re just going to have days where you get off track and don’t stick to your plan.
But it’s ok!
One bad day isn’t going to derail your progress…unless you let that bad day turn into a bad week, bad month or bad year.
Just know IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN because being perfect is impossible and sometimes life just happens.
What you choose to do next is what makes the difference.
I still don’t feel great as I write this…but I’ve already made the decision to get back on my normal eating schedule and move my workout to as soon as I’m feeling better…whether that’s this afternoon or tomorrow morning!
And I’ve already decided today won’t be on my list of top 10 healthy or even productive days…but I’m ok with that…
I’m just going to do the best I can and not feel guilty about it.
Feeling guilty just makes me feel worse…and makes me want chocolate. So there’s no sense in going there.
Sometimes we just have to go with the flow and be compassionate with ourselves.
It reminds me of a quote I saw somewhere once, “A plate of spinach won’t make you healthy, just like eating a cookie won’t make you unhealthy”
And to add to that I would say “What makes you healthy is what you do next and what you do most of the time” 😊
